gingerbread

okay, so this weekend has been crazy, but mostly good. i got the dreaded office party out of the way. haha, actually it was quite nice. we had it at the office out in the showroom. a perk about being in the design world is usually you get to work in a cool space. even if your office is a total wreck.
they catered the party through italian market and grill. i've been to italian market and grill once and was not impressed but that food last night was incredible!

i was able to spend some time with my college roommate yesterday. before i went to the party, we stopped by the saturn dealership and the mazda place. it was the first time that i'd ever been shopping for a car - my first experience dealing with car salesman. ughh. but, ya know, the guy at saturn was a brave man. HAHAHA. i did something i probably never should have done.
i test drove a 5 speed.
it wouldn't have been so bad if i had driven one recently, but NO, it had been several years. i know the car salesman was probably having a heart attack in the back seat. jennifer was in the passengers seat not sure what to think. i don't think i was ever able to get it to go into first gear on the first try. HAHAHA. but it was fun.
the manager of the place came out and did his little speech. he basically said, "are you sure you want a 5 speed cuz you looked like you were strugglin out there." anyways, it wasn't THAT bad, and yes i do want a 5 speed. how rude. :0) the car was great. but it was this butt ugly light blue granny color on the outside and had an ugly interior to match. that was really its only problems.
we didn't have time to test drive any cars at mazda. it was getting dark by that point anyway. i'm sure jennifer was sooo disappointed. HA.
last night, jen and i thought it'd be fun to make gingerbread cookies. why is it that i always forget how troublesome gingerbread cookie dough is? its so gooey and mushy! its impossible. of course it didn't help that we ran out of plain flour. HA. the recipe calls for 4 cups of flour, right? we only had about 2. so we used self-rising flour for the rest. and even though the recipe calls for 4 cups, they might as well just say 10 cups cuz that's how much it takes. needless to say, we had some obese gingerbread people. and they tasted a little on the salty side - but not too much.
