i love watching them walk when they've just learned how. awkward, stumbling, determined, and just plain funny. not to mention - cute. phoebe started walking more than crawling last friday - 11 1/2 months old. she's walking almost all the time now - even trying to run out of her room when she knows it's about to be naptime or night night.
she's walking a full month earlier than will did. she is cutting her fourth tooth right now, but at this age will had 5 teeth already. she is still learning how to use a sippy cup and at this age will was totally off the bottle. they are all so different.
phoebe's schedule at 11 1/2 months: (for future helps)
wake - 7:00 (sometimes 6:30 and sometimes 7:30, but mostly 7:00)
eat and play
nap - 10:00 (sometimes 9:45 and sometimes as late as 10:30)
generally takes 1.5 hour nap
lunch around noon and then play
this is often when i will run some errands too
nap - 3:00
bottle - 4:30 or when she wakes
supper - 6:00 or 6:30
bath by 7:30
bed around 8:00-8:15
i'm trying to get her to finish eating/drinking by 7:00 but i'm always afraid she hasn't had enough so sometimes i'll keep offering her bottle until bedtime. i'm trying to get away from that. trying to move her to eating meals with us - we're getting there. she eats some table food, but we still do a lot of babyfood. i offered her quick oats this morning and she hated it. i think i've spoiled her by always adding formula or milk to her baby cereal. she seems a lot pickier than will was and is, but will eats almost anything. i switched her to milk last weekend - no more formula and she is doing fine. i'm trying to remember to brush her 3 little teeth everyday and read to her a little more. she does enjoy looking at books. i was so much better about all of this with will when he was a baby. i can tell having an older sibling is teaching her a lot too though. even the horribly dramatic crying. oh, dear. what strong personalities in such little bodies.
You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Isaiah 55:12

all about phoebe
okay - have to write some stuff down about my phoebe. she is 11 months old tomorrow.
biggest smile i've ever seen
loves to be part of the party
reaches out for a hug - esp. to hug brother
climbs up and down the stairs
has taken three steps but not walking yet!
constantly finding crumbs and other things on the floor to put in her mouth
claps
waves
sounds like a baby chewbacca
only 2 bottom teeth
loves any fleece blanket
loves to take off her socks and play with them
loves wooden blocks
does not watch baby einstein (like brother did at this age)
cute tummy
longest eyelashes
eyes still blue
loves her bath!
not fond of the sippy cup
plays peek a boo with bunny
dances to music
loves daddy but she's a mommy's girl
love bug

the seventh month
september - the seventh month - it was a busy one with lots of changes for miss phoebe.
in her seventh month of life,
phoebe started crawling,
got her first tooth,
got her first ear infection,
started pulling up and standing.
and her hair is getting much longer!
i'm trying to get her to take just two long naps a day, but most days she insists that she still needs two naps and a small third nap.
she is 8 months old today. she is nearing 17 lbs.
she likes to get in her 24 oz of formula a day - sometimes a little less. and she will eat solids three meals a day - 2-3 Tablespoons or ounces at a time. i was trying to bump up her solids and decrease her milk but the doc said to keep her near 24 oz milk a day.
now on to month 8...

funny faces
my kids rarely wear pants in the warm months when we are at the house. yes, i guess i am lazy in this way. i am trying to teach will how to put on his pants by himself. it takes a lot of patience on my part.

baby girl smile
phoebe
phoebe is a joy. she is such a girly thing. with dainty little fingers and toes. narrow feet and a big bottom. a tiny thing, but chunky.
her smile is the best.

victoria bryant camping
i enjoy camping. grew up camping every summer. this was a good trip despite a very cold first night - 45 degrees - and the fact that our air mattress deflated every 4 hours. but, it really showed me how much my babies can handle. they did better in the cold than i did, and they slept through the air mattress blower.
it was a great opportunity for family to get together, to get away, and to enjoy outdoors. and it always makes me appreciate my home more - makes me see how easy i have it.

mommy thoughts
thankful for all the support i had while lee was gone to portugal last week. makes me realize how much easier it would be if it were like the olden days when families lived next door to each other or with each other. makes so much sense when you have little ones. so hard - almost impossible to do it alone.
praise God for his help.
phoebe is 4 weeks old today!
daffodils are blooming - started blooming at the end of february - seems early to me but love it. can't wait for daylight savings time next weekend - we can have evening walks again. looking forward to getting the rest of this baby weight off. i'm nursing and i feel like i have to eat all the time. need to get smart about my snacks. made some trail mix today. it's hard, cuz most of the time i get really hungry at about 3 or 4 in the morning whenever i get up to feed phoebe. have to eat something or i can't get back to sleep. but i have to be careful about what i eat - has to be something that won't keep me up. larabars are so yummy, but keep me up after i eat them. think they are intended to give energy so that would make sense. any good ideas for middle of the night snacks for a nursing mom?
phoebe gets up 2 or 3 times between 11:00pm and 8:00am.

Wellspring Upscale Resale
okay, i love shopping for little girl clothes!!!! here are some clothes i picked up for phoebe at the local Wellspring consignment store. it is in duluth next to the publix at old peachtree and buford hwy. i think i paid $5 total. they were super cute, in great condition and the money goes to benefit a girls home and a women's recovery home here in georgia for victims of sexual abuse, forced prostitution, and human trafficking.
here is more info on Wellspring.
PLEASE NOTE - THEY MOVED LOCATIONS TO ACROSS THE STREET (BUFORD HWY) AND NO LONGER SELL BABY CLOTHING. SAD! BUT STILL A GREAT STORE! JANUARY 2011
